What is the Linebreeding Report?

The linebreeding report for a dog can be used to research all the inbreeding or duplicate ancestors that appear in a pedigree back to 9 generations. Each unique occurance of a specific ancestor through one of their offspring is termed a "line", so the linebreeding report aims to sum up the number of lines or times that a specific ancestor occurs in the pedigree and shows you how many different variations of that ancestors blood appear in the pedigree.

What does each column mean?

Each dog's linebreeding report will be ordered showing all duplicate ancestors in the pedigree that occur through at least 2 distinct lines, the animals that are greater influences in the pedigree will show up in order of importance with the most inbred ancestor showing at the top. On the report, you'll find the following columns:

Registered Name - The name of the ancestor, a photo (if available), extra info and health information

Inbreeding Stats - The location of each occurance of this ancestor in the pedigree. Numbers show the generation that the occurance happens. The letter 'S' shows that the occurance happens on the sire (top half) of the pedigree, the letter 'D' shows an occurance on the dam's side (bottom half) of the pedigree. Uppercase letters show that the occurance happens through a male offspring and lowercase letters show the occurance happens through a female offspring. For an example of how to read this column, read about inbreeding.

Crosses - The total number of times that this ancestor appears in the pedigree.

Lines - The number of unique lines broken down into those that appear on the sire's side of the pedigree and the dam's side. As an example 5 (3) (2) would indicate that there are 5 unique lines, 3 that appear on the sire's side and 2 on the dams side. Hovering your mouse over the (3) and (2) will show the names of each of the line or that dog's offspring on either side of the pedigree.

Blood % - This line calculates what percentage of the genetic material the ancestor is contributing to the resulting pedigree.

Influence - This figure boils the inbreeding stats down into an approximation of the influence that the ancestor would have in a more readable format. An influence of 4 x 5 means that the inbreeding is approximately equivalent to showing up in the 4th and 5th generation.

AGR - Stands for Additive Genetic Relationship and is a very complex calculation. Essentially, this looks at each ancestor and also looks at the inbreeding that occurs in that ancestor to calculate the additive blood % that the ancestor is contributing. If the ancestor is heavily inbred themselves, you'll get a higher AGR number. If you're really a math nerd and want to read about the AGR calculation, you can find an explanation here. A red asterix after the AGR indicates that an occurance shows up in the 9th generation and as a result, the AGR calculation may be incomplete.
